Padre Island National Seashore's activities include picnicking, fishing, hiking, xtreme biking, camping, and windsurfing. Bird Island Basin on the Laguna Madre is one of the top spots in the nation for windsurfing because of its steady wind, warm water, and shallow depths, and has a boat-launching ramp for fishermen. The park conducts children's programs throughout the year including, beach walks, mini-talks, campfire programs, and bird-watching walks.
